The largest single function of Compliance involves processes to assure compliance with all applicable local MBARD regulations, and state and federal laws. These processes include field inspections, issuing violations if necessary, and providing compliance assistance. Inspectors perform unannounced inspections on permitted sources to review compliance with permit conditions. If violations are found during inspections, inspectors take enforement action. Compliance assistance involves educating the public and operators to improve their understanding of air quality regulatory requirements in order to avoid the occurrence of violations.
