AB 181 - School District Transportation Service Plans
California Assembly Bill 181 requires school districts to develop transportation service plans in consultation with air qualiy management districts.
“SEC. 14. 39800.1. (b) (1) The Plan shall be developed in consultation with classified staff, teachers, school administrators, regional local transit authorities, local air pollution control districts and air quality management districts, parents, pupils, and other stakeholders.”
The Air District does not review these plans; however, it does offer several funding programs that school districts may take advantage of when implementing their developed plans.
The Air District does not do transportation planning; however, the agency does offer several funding opportunities that may support your plan, including the Zero Emission School Bus Program and the Community Air Protection Program.
Zero Emission School Bus Program
The Zero Emissions School Bus Program (ZESBP) provides school districts with an opportunity to replace diesel school buses with clean running electric buses, reducing overhead costs and improving local air quality while helping to educate students about the benefits of electric vehicles. Community Air Protection Program
The Community Air Protection Program (CAPP) reduces pollution exposure in communities based on envrionmental, health, and socio-economic information. Air quality improvements in these communities is accomplished by enhancing air monitoring, providing cleaner technologies, and engaging the community.
